Wiser and stronger
Jul 30th, 2010 by edward

We have a request from another reader for a reading :) several months ago, Sun, 25 Apr 2010 17:29:57 +1200:

“I am also currently seeking other employment and am in the process of obtaining another job, should I be successful in my application, would it be wise for me to accept the role.”

I apologize for the very late reply; I was away for a few months vacation! :)

For this query, I use the simple 3-card spread and its variation in interpretation: each card representing Past, Present and Future respectively. I decided to use this because I think the question concerns a transformation of events or situation.

The three cards selected are: Four of Batons, Queen of Hearts and Eight of Batons.

The forecast is decidedly positive indicating a progression towards more harmonious states. The association of the past (four of batons) with the future (eight of batons) signify an overcoming of conservatism/stasis onto more faith in your conviction and a sense of responsibility. Solidly-based achievements are imminent in your job prospects.

However, I observe that I often get the Queen in your readings. I am not sure but this card might represent you or at least convey the strong influence of a deeply emotional nature that is being suppressed.

On this site will rise …

Hi Edward,

We’re building our new home now and we will be moving in this coming August. We’re away in the meantime, and although we get regular updates, we’ve no idea how the house construction is coming along. What do you think? Will it be all okay when we get there in August?

Anxious,
Maria

A True and Perfect Love?
Apr 5th, 2010 by edward

Sun, 21 Mar 2010 21:34:45 +1300 we have a query about a person’s love life.

I made a simple reading that describes the “Strength”, “Weakness” and “Result” of our querent’s query about her general state of love in life. The suit of Cups (Hearts) dominated the 3-card spread; Cups (or Hearts) represent Water, the element governing the emotional dimension of the human being.

Strength: Seven of Cups

The Seven of Cups is a symbol of true and perfect love.

Weakness: Queen of Cups
This card indicates difficulty in expressing emotions. Thus, the repression of your strength.

Result: Ace of Cups
It seems that there is now the possibility of a new emotional involvement. The probability and quality of this new acquaintance is to be determined by the two cards above: with the Queen of Cups, it represents merely the desire for a new relationship; with the Seven of Cups, it represents the presence of a relationship nearing the state of perfect emotional harmony.

They say that True Love dispels Fear. Perhaps you are afraid of expressing what you truly feel such that you seek the perfect lover rather than express the Perfect Love.

Stability at best, stasis at worst, but nothing devastating
Jan 22nd, 2010 by edward

We have a question about the prospects for a relationship that has just been mutually ended.

Strength: Three of Clubs
You have the ability to respond to negative and disappointing situations with sufficient self-possession.

Weakness: Queen of Coins
Is your life under the influence of people who are selfish?
Are there fears, perhaps unfounded, that you need to overcome?
Anxiety over the practical aspects of the relationship can wear you down.

Result: Four of Coins
Stability at best, stasis at worst, but nothing devastating.

Summary interpretation: The situation in my reading describes a conflict between pragmatism (your weakness) and ego (your strength).

Usually, the ego is a defense mechanism, it seeks to protect the individual from the dangerous consequences of desire. At the same time, pragmatism may be described as “self-honesty” and uses experience and observation rather then theory or ideology in making decisions.

As there seem to be little on the horizon regarding the ended relationship, it might be more practical (in a sense and in the long term) to address this obstacle: unfounded fears and the presence of selfish people, in whom you should rely less.

“All about the future”

New life, place and absolute freedom
Dec 31st, 2009 by edward

This is a more detailed reading of the concerns that Maria has previously set forth regarding plans of relocating.

Result: nine of hearts, ace of coins
The emotional and economic realms are treated in the result of the reading, which is generally positive, as it is interesting that number one and number nine are paired. One represents the start of something, as well as the will for a new existence. Nine signals growth and expansion or more negatively, the depletion of energies.

Obstacles: four of coins, ten of clubs
It is rather unclear how this pair could be an obstacle as they indicate a strong tendency towards a new intellectual, cultural and spiritual growth.

Strength: eight of clubs, five of spades
The presence of the five of spades and only one five in the hand is fairly good. This means that there will be problems but these will be temporary and can be overcome. The eight of clubs tones down the negative effects of the five of spades, as it is a very strong card signaling mental efficiency and calmness.

Response: six of coins, ten of coins
Lack of harmony with regards to the practical side of life. As the change of environment is surely indicated here, it is coupled by difficulties in the shift. I think these indicate general practical adjustments that are needed in the new environment.

Outlook: two of spades, two of hearts
This probably refers to new emotional relationships and ties that are developing and the need for care, sureness and rationality.

Advice: king of spades
The king of spades signifies your complete freedom. You have the absolute capacity to control your destiny. It is almost pointless to detail this reading because of that absolute freedom.

General notes:
One ace in the spread indicate some lack of concentration. Two tens signal big and significant changes, but not upsetting types of changes. Two twos mean a fairly balanced state, and that there won’t be any insurmountable obstacles.

Philippines outlook in 2010
Dec 30th, 2009 by edward

This is my second reading for the query presented by Mandy on the subject of the Philippine elections and outlook in 2010.

Result: four of spades and ace of coins.
It is quite rather too early to ask about elections in 2010, with the four of spades indicating the need to wait and be patient. Nothing is yet for certain, and matters can drastically change directions, that is, it is still a possibility that there won’t be an election in 2010.

Obstacles: five of batons and five of spades.
The presence of two fives representing the difficulties coming, and the presence of three fives in the entire spread are extremely bad omens. The obstacles suggested here pertain to both subjective and objective conditions. While subjective conditions are controllable, the objective ones are not. There will be a very severe state of crisis.

Strength: nine of batons and seven of coins.
The only hope is that at this point in time, things may still be steered in the right direction. Nine and seven indicate favorable possibilities in the economic and mental realms, but these are all still possibilities. Unfortunately, the outlook of the reading seem very negative.

Response: four of hearts and six of batons.
There are risks to physical and psychic health indicated here, coupled with emotional stability on the positive side and stasis on the negative side. This seems to mean lack of control on the matter in question.

Outlook: five of hearts and ten of coins.
The outlook here is again very bleak. It signals emotional difficulty in adjusting to a different economic situation.

Advice: queen of hearts.
This card warns against ambiguity, and the confused and confusing signals one is being presented with in the Philippine political realm.

My own interpretation of this spread of cards is that the elections in itself seem to be of no important matter. It may or may not take place, it is too early to tell, and yet the future holds poorly despite the possibilities for great things. Political violence will continue and the economic conditions will change, presumably negatively.

About travel in 2010
Dec 30th, 2009 by edward

On the matter of a South American sojourn.

The reading is dominated by air, and thus concerns a mode of action. The result is in the domain of economic, financial and practical matters.

Your strength is courageous rationality in making a decision on the subject in question (two of spades). Your weakness seems non-existent at this point, but rather could be linked to a particular form of obstacle which is the possibility of facing hostility (knave of spades). It appears that there is someone who does not like you, someone who is envious and cannot really be trusted, but luckily, someone who is not really capable of affecting your life.

The result is quite ambiguous (four of coins) with regards to your question. Quite simply, the card indicates financial security. However, on the matter of the question of travelling, you are on a quite even level, where prudence, slowness and laziness could in fact be more advisable than gregarious self-assertion. Perhaps it is indeed better to stay home and crochet.

Will there be change in 2010?
Dec 28th, 2009 by edward

We have a query from Mandy about the political future of the Philippines, in particular, in 2010.

While I cannot categorically answer the question of whether there will in fact be an election in 2010, the answer to the question of change seems plain: there won’t be any change.

The seven of cups, the four of cups and the Queen of clubs. To me these represent an emotional, ego-driven narrative that culminates in an introverted, morose and un-creative and un-spiritual end. The potential of the introspective, receptive, spiritual female has been overturned.

The viability of another location
Dec 28th, 2009 by edward

In her recent comment, Maria asks about the viability of settling in another location.

It seems that the results of your previous visit to the countryside will very soon become visible. Your preliminary activities in relation to that plot in question, is represented here by the two of spades. This card indicates a considerable degree of tension. It was, I believe, a very difficult, delicate and dangerous stage. You need(ed) a lot of courage, sureness and rationality.

The present circumstance looks very negative. I’m afraid here you will most likely engage in a personal battle which you will lose. This may refer to actually acquiring this plot and thus the entire question of the viability of this particular location. The five of spades is one of the most negative cards in the minor arcana, and it is this card that represents your current situation.

The 9 of coins represent the result of your endeavor. As the number 9 is a very dynamic number, things are moving and will continue to move in as manner that will still allow you to be in control. The negative aspects of the previous card may be minimized by this card, as this card signifies something positive in the economic and financial field. Perhaps indeed, you won’t be buying this plot after all.

Upon your return to the countryside, the question of that small plot of land and the viability of such a location will finally be brought to a close.

So, will you seal the deal?

The present card says “no” and the future says that the road will come to an end. The maximum – not very much – of such an undertaking will be attained. Thanks goodness, not at a very high price on your part.

Reply to a Question about the House in the Woods
Sep 29th, 2009 by edward

Maria asks about the prospects of living in a house in the woods.

My reading of the situation – past, present and future – is dominated by the element Fire. This means that the situation at hand calls for very good decision making abilities, and your confidence in such decisions, which much be made in a strong, intelligent and assertive way. If you are confident in your abilities – and certainly also confident of others – then Fire should hold well for you depending on the numbers the Fire element falls on.

And I got very good results, Maria!

The incident of having seen the house in the woods and knowing its owner is shown in my reading as a very good omen. There was, it seems, very good and harmonious reciprocity in that earlier incident.

Now, at present, I read indications of instability and uncertainty regarding those encounters and regarding the future. However, all this really means is that you may either be inflexible or confident in the decisions that are being made. The accompanying cards show that more confidence (but not too much), faith (in yourself and others) and a responsible sense of adventure is called for.

The last card – the King of Clubs or Batons – is really very auspicious. It also indicates people you can trust.

So it seems that you are on the right path, and your actions are of the right moment. :)
